2010 State Drill Team Competition

Yesterday was a full day with the State Drill Team Competition held at UVU in Orem. 1A, 2A, and 3A schools competed. B and I thought the Troyettes looked awesome, but the competition was steep. There were 17 teams competing in the 3A division. Our girls did not bring home a trohpy, but they are still winners to us!

The girls were there both Friday and Saturday, missing most of school on Friday. On Friday 4A & 5A schools competed, but the girls went and watched them dance. They got to go out to eat and then go swimming.

Saturday was crazy. Since Karlee is not dancing, she helps with hair and is pretty much in charge of the music. The girls' hair was beautiful, but very time consuming. Three braids along the side with messy buns along the back of their heads. Karlee was extrememly stressed as she help so many girls with their hair, with not enough time to accomplish the task. Then off to competition, hauling in all her stuff as well as the music paraphanelia. All of this stress added to the stressfulness of State Competition just about put Karlee over the edge. Long story short, Karlee ended up in the InstaCare in Orem that afternoon. She is fine, just scared her mom with stroke/heart type symptoms. (Numb & tingly left arm & hand & neck. Numb lips. Difficulty breathing.) Totally stress induced, and totally stressed out her mom too!

Cute hair on gorgeous girls! Click on the picture to see a close-up of Karlee's hairstyle'n talents.

Miliary performance

Dance performance. This is the Troyettes doing Karlee's favorite turn - she can do like 20 of em in a row.

This is someting that is very rare to see in a drill competition. The Troyettes and Juan Diego (Region rivals) have become friends - actually cheering each other on and off the floor for their competition routines. Usually each team sits in a circle, but these two teams have one big circle comprsied of the 2 teams. The Troyettes are in marroon and Juan Diego is in Navy. There are plans to have a mega drill party with the two teams. Our girls are awesome!

Juan Diego scored a 4th place in one of their routines, and here is Morgan jumping up and down with them, excited for them.

Troyettes 2010 Region Competition

Wow, the Troyettes did awesome tonight at the Region Competition! It was held at Bear River High School just north of Tremonton with 5 teams competing in the 3A division. Even though the competition was pretty tough, the girls brought home two 3rd place awards and one 2nd place - YIPPEE! The Troyettes qualified for State Competition this Saturday in Utah County. I will let you know how that goes!

We did have the best and loudest fans, though. I do believe we were screaming and clapping so loud that the girls couldn't hear the counts to march on and off the floor. I am sure we were the loudest supporters there. It was so impressive, so emotional - I was crying and I didn't even have a girl dancing. We do love our Troyettes!

But, the best news is Karlee's award. Everyone knows she still isn't dancing, but she is able to participate in drill down. The little stinker brought home a 1st place medal in drill down!!! WaaaaHoooooo!

Here are a few pics of the night. I filmed the whole thing, so we didn't get too many pics, but I still have a few to share. Sorry about the red-eye :(

Karlee and her coach, Natalie - We love you, Nat!

Awesome to have Karlee's Young Women leaders there. From L to R: Jaycie, Brooke, Erika, & Karlee. Thank you for the flowers and for being there! We love you!

My girl and her award.

After Garet's game Saturday we (me, Jeff, Garet, Gway, Pa & B) went to an amazing performance at Abravanel Hall by the State Honor Choir which was composed of over 700 High Schoolers. It was an amazing event. Miss May is Karlee's Choir director and has been since 7th grade choir. Miss May is also conveniently Chairperson for the State Honor Choir. We love you Miss May - thank you for all your hard work!

Ayana, Jessica, Susie, & Karlee before the performance.

Can you see Karlee? Right in the middle three heads down from the top - her face and right shoulder is showing (marroon).

After the girls sang, they exited the stage then the boys entered for their performance. For this picutre, I zoomed out so you can see how many boys there were. (There were just as many if not more girls there.) The boys and girls did sing two songs together in which the boys stayed on stage and the girls sang from right & left balconies. That was an amazing affect. Those kids can really sing!

Hoops

Saturday was a full day, beginning with Garet's Rec B-ball game. Following are just a few pics of him with the ball - or launching a 3-pointer. Look for marroon #13 - that's our boy!

3-pointer unleashed! He's known for em'!

Troyette Competitions

Even though Karlee is not dancing yet, she still attends the competitions. They have done pretty well. One competition they brought home three 2nd place trophies and another competition they brought home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies. The Troyettes go to Region on the 23rd. GO TROYETTES !!!

Karlee cannot yet dance, but she did pretty good during the drill down. The Troyettes have brought home some great trophies for drill down too.

This is the girls awaiting awards ceremony. It was fun watching the girls dance around acting crazy. They were having a blast!

Happy New Year!

What a great way to start 2010. Daddy & Garet riding snowmobiles in the back yard! It started out with Jeff pulling Garet on a sled, then Garet driving the snowmobile himself.

Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year!!!

Welcome home, Peach!

Mr. Peach (the cat that adopted us 1 1/2 years ago) disappeared on the 26th and reappeared today. We were sure he was gone for good, but absolutely estatic when he returned this morning. He was in great shape, just hungry and thirsty. Confetti has been cleaning him all day.
