Underwater Pumpkin Carving

Today was Seabase's Annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest. It was our first time attending, and the kids had a great time! They plan on attending every year.

Kids & Pumpkins pre-dive. Of course the kids chose the biggest pumpkins.

The pumpkins get gutted before diving. Oh and all the carving has to be done with an official dive knife.

Garet - post dive - with his carved pumpkin.

Karlee - post dive - with her carved pumpkin AND a bent dive knife. B lent Karlee her brand new, never-been-used, stainless steel dive knife and low and behold, Miss Muscles bent it carving her pumpkin. (Needless to say the knife is going back to the manufacturer.)

After the underwater pumpkin carving, they had bobbing for apples. They strung apples on a rope across the water and in only a wetsuit & fins, you had to "swim up" to attempt to take a bite out of an apple without using your hands. The first to take a bite out of an apple wins. They also gave awards for 2nd & 3rd place. This pic shows everyone lined up at their apple of choice before the contest started. Kind of hard to see in this pic, but people of ALL ages participated.

Here's the cool thing, Karlee was the second one to bite her apple! YAY! Her prize was a new mask and snorkel!

Oh, I didn't mention this, but B&B were there too. I didn't take any pix of them today because they were busy teaching a class. But thank you, B&B, for inviting us and helping us have fun today!
