She's a-goin to PROM!!!!

So... after the boys b-ball game (in which the Girlzies performed their military routine @ half-time) Karlee & Duane went on a date. They headed up to Taggarts for a nummy dinner. Mind you, Duane is on the b-ball team and so he was dressed in his required game-day attire - slacks, shirt & tie - and he looked rather dashing. Karlee had danced half-time, so she had drill-team hair & was in her drill slicks - not particularly dashing. Kind of a mis-matched couple, for sure, but they didn't care!

Anyways, unbeknownst to Karlee her lovely besties knew that she was going to be asked to Prom tonight.

(They were decorating the drill team's display case before Karlee & Duane left on their date.)

This is what Karlee found when Duane brought her home. "How awkward" Karlee says to me, "to come home from a date with one guy and have your porch decked out by another guy!" (The Christmas dance was the next night & she thought maybe a boy was asking her to that dance.)

So, Duane came in the house & hung out with us while Karlee followed over 1000 feet of twine that was strung all around the yard.

It was FREEZING outside, so thank goodness Garet was able to help Karlee.

Although the nincompoop wouldn't wear a coat!

There were words of encouragement along the way...

We peeked out the windows, watching Karlee's progression through the front yard, around the side, then into the back yard. The string led to the back door where Duane was waiting - looking mighty spiffy I might add - with a half dozen beautiful pink roses.

And was she ever surprised when Duane opened the door for her and said something along the lines of, "Not to keep stringing you along, but will you go to Prom with me???" Of course Karlee said, "Yes!!" and gave Duane a big hug. BUT then she noticed other people in our house too...

Tanner & Mikaela helped Duane set everything up while Karlee & Duane were at dinner. They wanted to stay & watch everything happen, so they were waiting in the kitchen. (I took this pic of them in my pantry - that's where we hid them when Karlee & Duane came home just in case Karlee came all the way into the house before she started following the string.)

Tanner, Mikaela, Karlee & Duane. Awesome kids!

So... Prom is Saturday, March 3rd, and Karlee is SO excited that Duane asked her to go with him!!! He is such a great kid & they are great friends!! They are going to have a blast!!
